Whether you’re a seasoned speaker or giving your first presentation at a major international conference such as Kscope, presenting can be an intimidating experience. Having an organized and well-rehearsed presentation will help calm your nerves and make for a fun and exciting presentation. This webinar will go over very simple organization techniques that will help ensure that your presentation will be successful and well received. It will also include some tips on how to get, and keep, your audience interested throughout your talk.

How can I spread the word about ODTUG Kscope12?

  • Include a Kscope12 PowerPoint slide in other presentations.(Speaker Slide) (General Slide)
  • Post a button or banner on your blog, Facebook, etc.

2012 Editor's Choice Award

All papers submitted by the June 4 deadline are eligible for the prestigious Editor's Choice Award voted on by your peers. This award is given in recognition of exceptional technical content and writing style for ODTUG Kscope12.

Slide Preparation

Your presentation will be made available for download before the conference, on the Schedule Builder link. Please note the policies below:

  • PowerPoint slides are due no later than May 25. If the May 25 deadline is not met, your complimentary speaker registration will be revoked and your session will be cancelled. Another presenter will be chosen to speak on your topic.
  • Use the Kscope12 Slide Template for your presentation. Click here to download the template. (see instructions for applying template below)- Upon request I have added more space to the PowerPoint Template.
  • Upload your slides to the Abstract tool. Click here for instructions for Uploading a Document.

Instructions for Applying the Template to a PowerPoint Presentation
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A PRESENTATION

  • Open up your existing presentation.
  • Go into slide sorter mode.
  • Highlight all the slides and choose copy.
  • Open up the Kscope template and paste in your slides.
  • Correct any formatting errors.

Please note: there is a Title Slide in the template. However, when applying the template as a DESIGN, it will NOT be placed into your presentation without cutting and pasting the direct PowerPoint Presentation.

All sessions will be held at this property.

For those of you who prefer soaking up the local culture while attending Kscope12, the Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter is the ideal place to be. Experience the best of all San Antonio has to offer—lodging downtown, with a Hill Country experience during the day.

Transportation to the JW Marriott Hill Country (a 30-minute ride) will be provided three times a day, so you can experience the flavor without missing a thing at Kscope12.

Please do not delay in making your hotel reservations. ODTUG Kscope12 is sizzling and there is a good chance that this property will fill up too. Room rate is $189/night, which includes free Internet.

On-site Information

Speaker Meeting- There will be an on-site speaker meeting, date to be decided.  Please plan to attend.

Speaker-Ready Room
Once on-site, ODTUG will provide a speaker-ready room equipped with computers (loaded with PowerPoint), printers, and general supplies for your convenience. This room will be staffed during conference hours.

Audiovisual Requirements
Each session room will be equipped with a standing podium, a small A/V table to hold a computer data projector, a wired lavaliere microphone, and a screen. You can connect your laptop to the projector to show PowerPoint slides during the presentation. You will need to bring your own laptop, and we advise that you bring a backup of your presentation on a flash drive as well. Book Signing

Are you a published author? Interested in sharing your book with Kscope12 attendees?
We’ve got a spot for you. ODTUG is sponsoring a Book Signing, a place for ODTUG speakers to promote their publishing accomplishments.

  • Speakers will be responsible for shipping and receiving their own book copies
  • Speakers will be responsible for processing payments for any sales on-site
  • Speakers will be responsible for taking and placing their own book orders.
